A technical fault at the airport's air traffic control meant no aircraft could arrive or depart from the hub.

Air travel have restarted at Scotland's primary international airport following a significant ATC system failure grounded all flights.

All incoming and outgoing flights were suspended because of an systems problem that arose around 08:30.

Several flyers were left waiting in jets at the stand while the issue persisted.

Operations Restart with Continued Disruption

The airport confirmed at 10:40 that services were back online, and expressed gratitude to passengers for their "cooperation and patience".

That said, significant disruption are anticipated to persist for some time. Flights to key destinations like Amsterdam, Frankfurt, London, and Bristol have been cancelled, with many others facing hold-ups.

An airport representative had earlier anticipated that dozens of flights could be impacted.

"Passengers are advised to contact their airlines for the latest information on their booked journeys," was the consistent advice.
