Each are being considered with the coaching position at the Scottish champions following the former manager's resignation on the start of the week.

McKenna's Position on Celtic

McKenna referred to the Glasgow giants as "a really big soccer institution" but emphasized he is "in the middle" of a "long-term project" with Ipswich Town.

The mid-thirties assumed control of Ipswich in 2021 and guided the team to the English top flight with back-to-back promotions, but they managed only four games last season as they were demoted back to the Championship and they currently sit twelfth place in England's second tier.

"There have been such discussions," the English capital native former Irish youth international said when questioned about being on the candidate list.

"This isn't a matter I have considered seriously, or where any part of my focus is currently.

"I possess a special job here at a remarkable club. And we're at a really important phase of the campaign. Everything outside of that hasn't reached my awareness."

Background and Agreement Aspects

Reports indicate that the manager would be willing to talk to Celtic given his boyhood allegiances.

"Growing up, we all have our affinities," he said when asked about those. "It's unlikely everyone has to publicly and declare what they were, but of course it's a really big football club."

The coach agreed to a new four-year contract in last year and was asked about his alleged £5m release clause.

"Throughout coaching agreements, there are things," he responded. "I'm unaware what my specific terms are and, were I informed, I wouldn't disclose you anyway!

"I tackle this job like I'll be Town's coach forever. I understand that's not always going to be the situation, but I'll always give maximum effort as long as I am here."

The Welsh Coach's Situation

The former striker represented the Hoops on loan from the Magpies in 2005, but the ex- Wales forward is inclined to finish the ongoing global tournament campaign, a position that would practically eliminate the 46-year-old from immediately taking the Celtic job.

Wales are currently third in their World Cup group behind leaders the Red Devils and second-placed Macedonia.

Wins over the minnows and North Macedonia in next month would book their place in the qualification play-offs, but they are all but assured of making those, thanks to a productive European competition performance, should they not end up Group J second place.

Given his current stance, Bellamy, whose contract concludes after Euro 2028, would be unavailable until after the play-offs at the minimum.
