Barcelona Set to Play Inaugural Match at Partially Completed Camp Nou on Saturday
Barcelona have announced they are set to host at the still-under-construction Camp Nou this Saturday. Athletic Bilbao will visit Athletic Bilbao in La Liga two and a half years following their departure for construction to commence.
“We envisioned this comeback. The moment has arrived. Home again at Spotify Camp Nou.”
Attendance will be limited though over 45,000 attendees will be allowed to watch as per the current authorization. When completed, it will accommodate close to 105,000 fans, up from the previous 99,000. The club said finished work included a new players’ tunnel along with upgraded changing facilities.
Stadium Testing
Barcelona held a fan-accessible workout inside the stadium earlier this month. Officials stated they were hoping for permission from European football’s governing body to play their next home Champions League game against Eintracht Frankfurt in December at Camp Nou. They have been hosting matches at the Olympic Stadium.
